the uniqueness

Now , its already at entry 5..so, in this entry, i will talk about kuih lompat tikam can be enjoyed at everyone and anywhere..yes, its true! We can eat it no matter what you doing and at anytime. Some people does not realized and concern about how good and amazing our local food, plus, they keep ignored the traditional food. 

In my opinion, we should be proud of our variety of types Malaysian food where we can’t find it at other places. Sames goes to this kuih lompat tikam, now, Malaysian corporate organization starting to look towards Malaysian food, and kuih lompat tikam had already been choose as one of high class dessert in hotels, royal or government dealing include non government dealing, wedding ceremony, international food festival and others.

Next we move on the step to make it..how to make it??err..for those who always being interested in cooking, they will try to it..if not, they might faced some trouble but in my opinion, its quite easy to make it although honestly i’m quite not good in cooking matter..right now, i will explain the step to make kuih lompat tikam.

Firstly, the GREEN LAYER where :
1.      Combine all green layers’ ingredients in a pot, then stir it well and cook until it thick and glossy.  After that, turn off heat and pour mixture into a container.


Secondly, the WHITE LAYER :
2.      Combine all the white layer ingredients and cook it until it becomes very thick and pour over the green layer above.  Then cool it at room temperature.



Thirdly, the BROWN SUGAR WATER (as the sauce) :
3.      Cook the brown sugar until it dissolves.

Lastly, the red rice:
4.      Drained the glutinous rice after we soaked it and steam up to 3 / 4 cooked. After the steam out from the cooker, it’s already okay. Then, take it out from the cooker thus, pour it into an appropriate bowl. And since it’s still in hot, put the coconut milk that we add it with a pinch of salt. Next, stir it quickly until it inflated and dry. Lastly, steam it again until its cook.

Kuih Lompat Tikam Ingredients

emm.. want to try to make kuih Lompat Tikam by yourself?? yes, sure..of course you can do it..My mom always make many types of kuih including this kuih Lompat Tikam and for this academic blog, my mom had help and make the kuih Lompat Tikam specially for me.

Now, back to the our topic, before you can start to make it, we have to prepare the ingredients first where we can find it everywhere especially at the retailer shop, mini market, supermarkets or you can just borrowed it from your neighbors. ;)

The Ingredients

The Green Layer
8 Tablespoons of rice flour
650 ml of water
3 tablespoons of pandan water
1/2 teaspoon green food coloring
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon of lime water

White Layer
3 tablespoons of rice flour
600g of thick coconut milk
1/2 teaspoon salt

Brown sugar water
2 slices of brown sugar
250ml of water
1 pandan leaves (tied)

Red Rice (optinal)
2 cups of glutinous rice
1/2 of thick coconut milk + pinch of salt

Rice flour, glutinous flour, coconut milk & water


Pandan leaves, lime water & green food coloring



That's all the ingredients that can easily find near our home!!!!

where we can found it??

Where can you find kuih lompat tikam??10 years ago, kuih lompat tikan only can be found at Kelantan and Terengganu. However, nowadays people can find it everywhere since many people know to do it.  From my interview with folks, the history of this kuih is still unknown and some of the people claimed that this food is from Kelantan and some of them claimed that it is from Terengganu. However, what i’m really sure is this food is originally from East Coast of Malaysia. This kuih lompat tikam can be found at many places such as street’s stall, restaurant, cafe, an institutional’s canteen, hotel and other places.

This show that this traditional food are always being as one of the Malaysian’s favorite food thus, this food will not forgotten by young or new generation especially from East Coast of Malaysia. Beside that, years ago this food is only being enjoyed in rural areas only such as village, small town but nowadays, we can found this food at high class area such as five star hotel plus, being accepted as high class’s favorite food. Apart from that, this food are also as one of the Malaysian’s food that being choose to promote Malaysia’s uniqueness food to the world.

jump and kill??or what?

Do you ever heard about ‘kuih lompat tikam’? i think for those who live at Kelantan and Terengganu had familliar with this food. Here in this academic blog, i will write and keep talk about it for academic requirements.
So, what is ‘kuih lompat tikam’??is’it you jump and kill?;)..Of course not. ‘Kuih lompat tikam’ is a Malaysian’s traditional food and famous especially in Kelantan and Terengganu.  The name of this food is unique and unfortunately, there are no specific information where this food get the name. As my mom said, the name is unique because people especially in East Coast will easilly remember it due to the unique name.
Basically, ‘kuih lompat tikam’ has two layers, flour layers that is in the bottom which basically in green colour and also white coconut milk layers that usually at the top. 


That’s is a little bit description about this traditional food.
